CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The crane operator’s role is to operate mobile or stationary cranes to lift, move, align, position, or reposition loads. The job entails safe positioning of cranage equipment, lifting levers and pushing buttons to ensure the safe conveyance of materials and equipment around a construction, mining, or industrial site.

In performing these duties, you are required to operate cranes in compliance with safe crane operational procedures and keep active communication with ground crew/rigger via hand signals or radio where visibility is compromised.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & AUTHORITIES OF THE ROLE

Must be certified to operate crane as per legal requirements.
Perform operational tasks of the crane by moving levers, depress buttons, and foot pedals to operate and control the speed/direction of crane movement.

CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The boilermakers job is to perform welding and fabricating duties related to structural projects and equipment repair / maintenance. This includes lay out, fit, and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms, such as machinery frames, using knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & AUTHORITIES OF THE ROLE

Perform multiple welding processes such as: arc welding (SMAW), metal insert glass (MIG) welding, tungsten inert glass (TIG) welding, flux-core welding (FCAW), plastic welding, hard facing, oxygen / acetylene welding, and brazing. Shall also perform plasma cutting, oxygen / acetylene cutting, tempering, flame straightening, air carbon-arc cutting, sheet metal cutting / bending.

Analyze blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and conduct welding operations.
Regularly inspect and test welds and equipment. Welds are checked for durability as well as meeting specified standards and equipment must be examined to determine if repairs or new equipment is needed.

The aim of this role is to provide technical assistance on maintaining various electrical, mechanical and civil aspects to facilitate smooth run of various business operations at the Village and optimize equipment facilities/ assets utilization. The Village Maintenance Foreman is accountable for both electrical and mechanical facilities and equipment maintenance. The main focus areas are the kitchen facilities, domestic facilities, and appliances for village residents, plumbing works, fire systems, raw and portable water systems and sewage systems. Ensure there is an effective and consistency application of all facilities and infrastructure at the village. The role holder is accountable for proper resource utilization ensuring that works are executed at cost effective and achieving value for money.

Village Maintenance Foreman has the following accountabilities and authorities:

Safety, Health, and Environmental risk management for each infrastructure and task to be undertaken

Fitter mechanic has the following accountabilities and authorities:

The role holder has the following accountabilities and authorities.

Set up a routine of planned outages for preventive inspection and defect correction. Maintenance schedules should be developed in such a way that allows attention to items of infrequent examination to be spread over a specific maintenance session cycle.
Attend breakdown maintenance as soon as they occur to correct the possible cause of the equipment failure. Maintenance must be done in a way that it doesn’t affect the continued safe operation of equipment when the equipment fails in the mining cycle.

This includes working with various key members on the plant engineering section to develop goals, objective and aims of the process plant. With these at hand, the plant engineering supervisor works judiciously in line with organizational goals to give other team members direction on areas to focus on.

Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Shanta Mining HSE requirements.
Plant Engineering Supervisor should be able to assist engineering artisans in conducting routine maintenance activities and breakdowns.
Conduct basic routine tasks as delegated to them by the artisans or the supervisor. Must be able to communicate and give feedback to the supervisor or other workmates.
Ensure sufficient task analysis is completed to carry work out safely. Always adhere to Shanta Gold occupational health and safety guidelines.
Follow Shanta policy and perform routine maintenance on domain and equipment as required
Compliance to maintenance schedule, Quality, and standard of work
Compliance to the asset Reliability plan
Participation in weekly departmental meeting.
Clear task assignment through asking questions to confirm understanding & agreement provide task feedback on daily basis.
Promote staff cohesion and morale
Demonstrate a high level of work and resource planning by ensuring resource available to perform work

REQUIRED SKILLED KNOWLEDGE Education Requirements

Secondary School Certificate / Vocational Training/ Apprenticeship in a related field
Minimum Qualification: Trade Test qualified Grade I or FTC
Must be computer literate with proficiency in MS Office.
Experience Requirements

Capable of delegating multiple tasks.
Communication and leadership skills.
Minimum 5 mining industry experience
Must have experience in the maintenance of industrial production / processing equipment.
8 years working experience in Mechanical Fitter Field
Must have knowledge of:

Be able to demonstrate capability to actively participate in risk assessments.

Job Description

CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The purpose of this role is to assist the Process Plant Shift Superintendent achieving accountabilities

by coordinating the activities of shift teams and operate plant production at reasonable cost.

Executes key accountabilities in the field, promote a safe and productive work environment whilst

maintaining ambitious standards of security, discipline and work management compliance.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & AUTHORITIES OF THE ROLE

Accountabilities and authorities of this role include:

Risk management: Providing direction to the team in reducing the number of significant hazards in your area of
Using the risk assessment and hazard identification in your area to manage the risks that have the potential to injure personnel, focusing on zero Lost Time Injuries
Provide strong operational experience and knowledge of process plant equipment to support the Shift Superintendent achieving production goals. The key accountability is to ensure that production is carried out according to the Shanta Mining Co. Ltd standards and that sufficient resources are made available to the production teams.
Operate in a safe manner at all times, being proactive in health and safety procedures and standards.
Conduct crew meetings on daily basis.
Ensure every crew member/ operator has proper required PPE’s
Ensure Safety, Health and Environmental risk management on shift, hazard identification and reporting.
Prevent, control and clean spillage, report all spills of oil as they can interfere with gold recovery processes.
Proper storage of working tools and equipment used in the Plant
Waste management in each section to maintain proper housekeeping
Set clear targets for team on daily basis, ensure that each operator understands targets and his/ her role in delivering on these targets.
Must be quick and effective in responding to breakdowns, analyze the route cause and effect and take corrective action either Internal by Operation Shift or escalate to Engineering – Maintenance team and Process Plant Metallurgist if required
Always be aware of plant performance and take corrective action as and when required.
Plant parameter control: Maintain Plant parameters in accordance with daily/standing instructions.
Production risk management: Identify and address (if within scope of authority) any production risk and escalate production risk if not within scope of authority to address.
Get accurate breakdown information conveyed to both engineering and Process Plant Superintendent
Minimize lead time to have breakdown addressed by appropriate personnel.
Adherence to call out protocol.
Use of reagents in accordance with Metallurgical Section specifications (ore type based).
Equipment utilization (running units without feed, damage, optimal usage, etc.).
General cost awareness and drive to reduce cost (e.g., cost saving ideas and suggestion).
Training and development: In collaboration with Process Plant Shift Superintendent, identifying the developmental needs of each operator, ensuring that development programs of operators are implemented.
Time keeping: Ensure valuable time keeping for your team and take appropriate action as and when required and Overtime management as per Process Plant Department policy.
Reward and recognition to the good performers.
Assisting the Process Plant Shift Superintendent in management of inappropriate behavior from the team.
Generally, the role holder is expected to be in the field working hands on with the rest of the team – coordinate, troubleshoot and facilitate the Shift Superintendent production plan, within established working methods and safety procedures consistently and in efficiently manner at the Process Plant.
REQUIRED SKILLED KNOWLEDGE

Qualification:

Experience in Processing/Chemical engineering
Certificate of Secondary Education
Valid Driving license/Mobile equipment operating license
Experience:

5+years of mineral processing experience including crushing, elution, grinding, leaching, tailings treatment and management, control room operation, plant inventory control and management, and water treatment; with at least experience of 2 years acting as a Shift Operations Supervisor or a shift/team leader.
Good written and verbal English language skills are essential
Leadership skills
Planning and organizing skills
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.
