Rumor: Yanga Sacked Head Coach Nasredinne Nabbi.

YOUNG Africans have rubbished rumours that Head Coach Nasreddine Nabi has been given a two- match grace period, saying he has full backing from the management to stay put at the club.

Yanga have two tricky fixtures as they face Al Hilal on Sunday in the second preliminary round of CAF Champions League at Al Hilal Stadium in Sudan.

Thereafter, they will engage Simba in a Dar es Salaam derby of the NBC Premier League duel at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam with the two sides currently tied on 13 points apiece from five matches.

Breaking the ice on Tuesday was the club’s president Hersi Said who insisted that the Tunisian tactician is still at the club to execute his duties.

“Nobody has given Nabi either one or two matches, he is Yanga coach and has a contract to work at the club. We are leaders and cannot go along with the views of few people who believe that there are no unconvincing results in football.

“We believe in the process and Nabi has sharpened this team well and the team has registered success under his tutelage as such, we support him a lot and he is there as Head Coach of the team throughout this season,” he said.

About their preparations for the Al Hilal decisive match, the president said everything is going on well and that the advance team is already in Sudan putting things in order.

“We are getting good cooperation from the Tanzania Embassy in Sudan to help us in sorting out logistic issues and we are going to travel by business flight passing through Ethiopia before heading to Sudan.

“The game is on Sunday from 8:00 pm and we are ready to adapt to any hostile environment we may be exposed to while there. The team is expected to train at the match venue on Saturday before Sunday’s meeting,” he said.

Again, Hersi pointed out that they have experienced players who are used to playing at any hostile venue as such, will not be threatened by anything and that players will fight for the club and country at large.

“The outcomes recorded here were just part of football…we created a lot of opportunities but could not use them, which if we turned them into goals could have changed everything,” he said.

Going into the game, the Sudan giants have an away goal advantage with a 1-1 draw at the 60,000 capacity venue in the city meaning that a barren draw will see them advancing to the group stage.
