The U. S. Peace Corps is a leading international community-based development agency that has been working in Tanzania since 1961 to support American Volunteers serving in a number of community development projects including Secondary Education, Sustainable Agriculture and Community Health Education,
We are looking for qualified candidates to temporarily facilitate a Pre-Service Training Programs for the Peace Corps Volunteers, to take place in Korogwe from June to September 2019. Our trainings follow Community-Based Training (CBT) approach and therefore the successful candidates will be required to live and work in rural areas around Dodoma town throughout the training period. Driver Mechanic -1 Position
The Driver Mechanic is responsible for driving safely on official business for Peace Corps Tanzania, As a member of Peace Corps Tanzania’s motor pool, the Driver Mechanic ensures assigned vehicle(s) are maintained and roadworthy. The duties of this position will sometimes require the incumbent to work beyond normal working hours, and travel extensively throughout Tanzania and occasionally to neighbouring countries.
She/he is will be responsible to safely drive trainees, volunteers, staff and guests in official Peace Corps Tanzania vehicles during the training period. She/he shall obey all traffic laws, only drive vehicles which have been checked and cleared as road worthy, and accurately log all vehicle trips in the Vehicle Log Books.
Form four certificate with class C driving license: mechanics certificate from a recognized institution; driving and experience of at least 4 years with a clean record are required. Good spoken English and ability to work with minimal supervision. Being functional in Microsoft Word would be an added advantage,
